Thank goodness for the powers of networking! If you are in the people development and coaching business as I am, you probably recommend your clients to build and maintain their network of professional contacts. I certainly do.
I recently had coffee with a highly experienced coach who mentioned a tool she regularly uses, The Trust Equation. Although its author, Charles Green, along with two other colleagues, first published it earlier this century, not everyone has heard of this simple and excellent approach to assessing the degree of a person’s trustworthiness.
Two factors, Credibility and Reliability, are easy to measure, but Intimacy and Self orientation are not so easy. However, for those of you who are familiar with the Human Synergistics® 12-style leadership model we use, it is possible to put an accurate score to both these factors in the equation.
The importance of the equation is its ability to show to our participants that others may not perceive them to be as trustworthy as they believe they are and, critically, that they can take simple actions to improve this perception.
Here is Charles Green’s very informative video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEB0qIy0XVc
Thank you to Maryse Lepage, a highly experienced coach on my network, who has enabled me to share this resource with you.
